Given the level of this position, marketing candidates from outside the firm are usually required disclose the performance attaining such a degree, such as in what position within a graduating class that one falls (upper 10%, 25%, 50%, etc.). This is due to the highly competitive nature of the position as well as the typically limited availability (generally, each organization will hire one recruiting manager per department).

Regarding skills, a strong marketing candidate for recruiter would be able to use any database, such as an applicant tracking system. One must also be able to effectively critique while accepting constructive criticism. One must have exceptional communication skills, excellent project management skills, excellent presentation skills, and excellent candidate identification skills. Consistent with other requirements of the marketing position, one must also be able to handle confidential information appropriately, develop strategic alliances within the industry, have an aptitude in related software (such as Microsoft Office Suite), have the ability to maneuver the internet as needed, have the ability to learn systems quickly, and solve problems effectively.
