The Director of Content Strategy will be responsible for providing high-level consultation, strategy and planning to inform creation of custom content offerings for partners, as well as oversee a Content Strategy team dedicated to conceiving, producing and presenting content strategy deliverables across the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience leveraging data and intelligence to develop content strategies and inform content creation and content optimization.
Based in Santa Monica, this position reports to the VP of Content. 

Responsibilities:
Manage and evolve content strategies that support short- and long-term sales and marketing initiatives
Build and maintain best practices (both general and proprietary to DM insights) and thought leadership around content strategy, and content optimization
Interface with clients pre- and post-sale as needed.
Participate in ongoing tests to gauge content effectiveness.
Work with owners of particular content to revise and measure particular content and marketing goals.
Develop standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, partner business reviews, including the real- time implementation of content strategies.
Leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and execution plans and editorial calendars.
Identify assets that support a point of view and educate partners on a strategy that leads to critical behavioral metrics.
Nurture partners through data-storytelling.
Identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities through content analysis, and deploying content assets for higher conversion rates.
Collaborate closely with content, marketing, sales, account management and business intelligence groups.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field preferred; minimum of 5 years of management experience including hiring, managing, performance reviews
A strong writing and editing background; familiarity with the AP Style guide; at least two years experience with editorial calendars and online programming preferred
Proven experience working with branded content at an advertising agency, top brand or publisher.
Expert in brand direction, data visualization and information design.
Ability to work on deadline within constraints, while maintaining consistency
Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Experience identifying and managing freelance designers and data researchers.
Must love new ideas, data storytelling, thinking outside the box, working across platforms and collaborating.
A demonstrated ability to work with and analyze big datasets is a plus.
Strong client-facing consultative skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Creative and analytical thinking.
Expertise in all major business software applications (comScore, Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Fluency in web analytics tools, social media marketing applications and social media monitoring platforms.
Ability to lead and inspire teams to meet quarterly goals.
A passion for new technology and tools.
Ability to analyze and apply web data into content creation and strategy.
Ability to optimize content strategy and creation in real-time.
Data-storytelling savvy.
Experience in social media and content marketing.
