Specific Responsibilities:
* The IT Director will partner with Business Units and manufacturing teams to understand their evolving requirements. They will analyze the San Dimas & Oceanside operations to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions
* The IT Director monitors business processes and IT services/operations via metrics and reports to provide visibility to management and identify inefficiencies and/or compliance risks.
* The IT Director serves as Business Lead and/or Business Owner on system implementation projects (liaison between key business partners and IT) ), will play a key role in prioritization and demand management relating to IT investments in San Dimas & Oceanside and will manage business partner expectations.
* The IT Director works closely with management and colleagues to ensure that all phases of projects, including installations, upgrades, application enhancements and configuration issues are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, resolved and managed under change management processes.
* The IT Director works on specific projects under direction from business and IT management and in conjunction with Business and IT goals, objectives, strategies and plans.
* The IT Director provides guidance, mentoring, assistance and development to colleagues on cross training and technical development of staff. Manages the team to ensure they meet the full requirements of their role. Displays ability to effectively influence others within technical area of expertise, motivating personnel and resolving conflict.
* The IT Director helps craft individual goal setting to best pursuit of corporate and department goals if managing staff and conducts professional appraisals for team members and effectively manages performance.
* The IT Director contributes and provides input/feedback into budgeting, scheduling and performance requirements for the site in conjunction with corporate and department goals.
* The IT Director must be quality orientated and ensure all work streams are aligned with company and health authority standards and regulations (e.g., SOX, GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, ICH Q8, 9, 10). They must ensure the highest levels of compliance in the IT team in San Dimas & Oceanside.
* The IT Director is responsible for working cross-functionally as a key contributor to the overall success of a global dynamic IT function to effectively guide projects from concept to deployment. Assists with project planning, provides input on design, validation test methodology and implementation for technology platforms and applications as required for the site business operations.
* The IT Director may be required to travel to other sites domestically and internationally.
* The IT Director is the advocate for IT with his / her business partners and is the advocate for the business within IT.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
The IT Director for San Dimas & Oceanside is responsible for the San Dimas & Oceanside Information Technology (IT) functions including planning, program/project management, application management/support, infrastructure management/support and site support (desktop/laptop) operations as well as IT quality, security & risk management. The IT Director serves as a member of the San Dimas & Oceanside leadership teams and is responsible for serving as a trusted advisor to that team as it relates to the appropriate use of IT to enable operations in San Dimas & Oceanside manufacturing facilities.
The IT Director is responsible for working closely with the Gilead executives, key business partners and IT team members to enable San Dimas & Oceanside business operations with efficient and effective IT services and solutions. In doing so, the IT Director is responsible for liaising with key business partners and IT service delivery and support teams to understand, identify and/or define business and IT requirements and source/manage IT services and solutions to support San Dimas & Oceanside business operations.
In addition, the IT Director is responsible for working with the Corporate IT Leadership team to set, manage and monitor progress on IT goals, objectives, strategies, plans, programs/projects and operational requirements.
The IT Director will lead efforts to streamline and help manage San Dimas & Oceanside business processes, data and underlying site-specific IT systems including the future deployment of Manufacturing Execution Systems, while working with their Application Services partners to manage enterprise capabilities/systems like AMMS (i.e., Maximo) and ERP (i.e., Oracle). The IT Director will be expected to have familiarity with these business capabilities/processes and underlying systems.
The IT Director is responsible for leading various projects that are specific to enabling San Dimas & Oceanside operations. The IT Director is responsible for ensuring on-time, on-budget and on-quality delivery of these projects while adhering to corporate goals and compliance requirements.
The IT Director will lead efforts to upgrade infrastructure and site support (e.g., desktop/laptop) services, processes and related technologies including Dell, Cisco, NetApp and Microsoft.
The IT Director is responsible for San Dimas & Oceanside IT-related quality, security & risk management capabilities that address quality and regulatory compliance, IT security, business continuity planning / disaster recovery and privacy.
The IT Director has responsibilities associated with leadership and oversight of the IT team members who are responsible for implementing and maintaining IT Applications, Infrastructure and Operations that are specific to this site, while working with Corporate IT Service Lines to ensure enterprise capabilities and services are properly delivered to the San Dimas & Oceanside sites. The IT Director also plays a key role in recruiting, retaining and developing the San Dimas & Oceanside IT teams and establishing associated structure, roles & responsibilities and skills/capabilities.
The IT Director will be responsible for various IT managerial competencies including program/project management, service management, financial management, resource management, vendor management and asset management.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
* Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, management information systems, computer science, engineering or other related field of study is required. An MBA would significantly enhance the candidateas qualifications.
* Strong business and technology acumen; solid understanding of general Manufacturing, Supply Chain and related IT services, processes, measures and related capabilities.
* Strong background in GMP-specific Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management processes, data and underlying systems. Previous experience and knowledge of S&OP, MES, AMMS, LIMS, ERP and other Supply Chain Applications a must.
* 5 years of relevant work experience in a Quality Systems role. Previous experience working in a regulated environment with knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11 and Computer System Validation Lifecycle. Experience working with other regulatory and compliance frameworks including SOX, HIPPA and ITIL preferred.
* Strong background in infrastructure and operational services, processes (e.g., ITIL), organization and technologies (server, storage, network, desktop/laptop and mobile phone devices).
* Strong Leadership and Management skills/experience to provide direction and vision, develop the team and drive for excellence. In addition, solid skills/experience as it relates to IT managerial competencies including program/project management, service management, financial management, resource management, vendor management and asset management.
* Well-developed influencing and change management skills that will allow for significant IT-enabled program, process and managerial improvements in San Dimas & Oceanside; experienced at building consensus among business and IT team members at all levels within the organization; in addition, he/she will have the ability to work and coordinate across organizational boundaries and demonstrate aadded valuea in all of his/her efforts with the various business units, regions and functions.
* Ability to provide guidance to subordinates based on company policy and organizational goals/objectives. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizationas goals/objectives, schedules and budgets.
* Capable of developing creative and resourceful solutions for a wide range of complex issues and requirements. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
* Proven experience leading and managing complex environments projects/teams within corporate objectives and project timelines.
* Decisive, results-driven and fiscally conservative.
* Highly organized, results-oriented and attentive to details
* Self-motivated, proactive, independent and responsive a requires little supervisory attention
* Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation and diplomacy skills
* High level of personal integrity consistent with Gileadas core values
