Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, The Controller will oversee the operations of accounting. The Controller will help lead the accounting team and act as a business partner to business partners and senior management on operational accounting issues for the company. This will include consolidations, corporate accounting activities, payroll, international accounting, operational accounting and internal controls, SOX and audit. This individual will be seen as a key point of contact for all operational accounting and related activities.
Responsibilities:
Seasoned leader of the accounting function of a publically traded company
Strong technical skills and an impeccable level of integrity and ethics
Ability to multi-task in managing the accounting department, providing support and insights to the senior management team
Ability to support the daily needs of the key business operating teams and suggest changes to make operations more efficient across the entire company
Ability to foster and support a team environment of shared work and shared success, with a proven ability to operate as an effective team member/leader in a fast paced environment with tight timeframes
Lead and manage system implementations across the accounting function working towards best practices and achieving the highest level of operational efficiency
Responsible for managing and driving the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes ensuring completion within deadlines
Payroll, commissions, employee reimbursements, fringe benefits and equity reporting
Analyzing company expense and explaining variance to FP&A and management
Prepare certain expense related journals and reconciliations, and review those prepared by accounting staff
Driving corporate accounting policies and procedures as well as Sarbanes Oxley compliance and documentation
Assist with internal and SEC reporting
Serve as one of the primary contacts during quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors
General supervisory functions and decisions including; coaching, mentoring, performance management, staffing and employee development
Assistance with other tasks and special projects, as needed
Requirements:
CPA
Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting roles, including a heavy background with a Big 4 accounting firm and with a publicly traded company
Ability to understand and interpret technical accounting
Possess strong organizational and communication skills
Planning and organizational skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Experience with Oracle a plus
