Reporting directly to the Provost, the new Vice President will hold primary responsibility for the strategic vision, leadership, and administration of academic programs that serve adult professional students in non-traditional undergraduate and graduate programs. The University offers bachelor's and advanced degrees in nearly 100 fields to more than 6,300 students within the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Adult & Professional Studies and Graduate School, and Bethel Seminary. Graduate and adult programs currently serve more than 2,000 learners in one doctoral, ten masters, six degree completion, and one AA program. The Bethel community provides a challenging workplace for more than 800 faculty and staff working toward a common goal and being supportive of the integration of faith and active learning. Bethel has been certified as a Best Christian Workplace. The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree and experience with growing successful adult programs either as a team member or leader. The new Vice President must understand and be committed to adult learning theory and have an entrepreneurial spirit. This person will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and work closely with the President and Provost to communicate the vision for adult programs. Utilizing a business model for managing the program will be essential. Founded in 1871 as a seminary for Swedish Baptist immigrants, the seminary expanded in 1914 by adding a junior college and in 1947 grew to become a four-year liberal arts college.
