Sales Director Jobs

Sales director jobs are the highest managerial level in a sales department which involves overseeing not just sales personnel but also being in charge of maximizing potential sales in all the markets, and keeping good contacts with existing clients. In spite of being a director level position, the person has to be able to travel a few times a month to interact socially and professionally with clients and leads. The other main task of a sales director is to meet his/ her sales target, which can be quarterly, twice a year or once a year.
To achieve this, the sales director may be called on to create a marketing campaign as well as engage in public relations. The people in these positions usually have a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. In the more technical companies, the candidate is usually someone with a technical background. Since this is a senior level position, the sales director is usually someone with at least five years of experience in a managerial position. The director also has to be an effective communicator, good at negotiation and be able to multi-task.
