One of the more difficult types of jobs to find are executive jobs because it is stable employment with a regular schedule and benefits. Executive jobs are very competitive, and most companies won't hire you unless you are exuding with business and managerial intelligence. If you are not willing to put up with a long period of researching, Curriculum Vitae (CV) writing, interviews and numerous rejections, then you will surely not get an executive job.

If you are not prepared for the responsibilities that come with the job when you are hired, then most probably you will not get an executive job. It is not enough to assume that you are the right person for this executive role. A lot of experience in lower level executive jobs is helpful to qualify you for jobs at the higher level. If you are less than confident that you will do the job perfectly, then you most likely will not be successful in your executive job search.

If you do not understand that having the right qualifications and experience is not enough or that having people skills is an advantage then most likely you will fail in your executive job search. It goes without saying that you are obligated to have great references. If you do not have these, then you are better off not even thinking about applying for an executive position.



Applicants must also keep in mind that these are not a simple application processes; you must be able to demonstrate that you are a good executive and are able to show proof of positive impact that you have made in the last place that you were employed in. One sure way to have your application papers trashed or put away is by not taking into account that you have not applied the right methods. Use executive job search engines on the internet to learn more about what the company is looking for, like client contacts that you can bring to the company, managerial skills, any innovative approach you could think of to change existing systems, and evidence of how good your relationship is with other people, as well as, how you handle and respond to difficult situations.

You won't get hired if you send out your CV before getting it right, so make sure that you know that an executive CV is unlike a regular CV. An executive CV has the following standard format:
  1. Personal information like name, address, date of birth, e-mail address, contact numbers
  2. It should have a brief outline about your objective for employment, if any, and how the company you are applying to will benefit from this.
  3. Include your special skills and capabilities that set you apart from the other applicants.
  4. Educational attainment as well as certifications or other trainings that could be useful for the role.
  5. Don't forget you work experience and history. What did you do at your previous employment and what positive impact did you bring there.
This seems like a simple format, but hiring managers place a lot of emphasis about the way you write your CV. This is what hiring managers are trained to look for in an executive application. So if you do not follow this standard structure and if you don't spend much time drafting, constructing, and planning what to write, than most probably you will fail in your executive job search. Sound quirky and repetitive and not have a professional looking lay out, and you are setting yourself up for failure.
