What We’re Looking For:
The Senior Director of University Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership, personnel management, and driving initiatives across program operations within their assigned portfolio of programs. Senior Directors are experienced operators with a proven track record in 2U program management and/or cross-departmental operations. They serve as internal advisors for program management senior leadership (SVPs, GMs), and people managers and escalation points for Program Directors. In addition, we are looking for an innovative subject matter expert to guide the development of the technical solutions for our business. As a subject matter expert, you will be evaluating the best organizational needs and recommending suitable technical solutions to drive the business forward. You may also be required to oversee the development, testing, and implementation of these solutions.
The Senior Directors are ultimately responsible for operational outcomes for their respective portfolios, which generally comprise 40 degree offerings and/or educational products (short courses, boot camps, certificate programs, and other academic products), as well as identifying and driving efficiencies across the business as a whole.
The Senior Director also serves as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on initiatives and projects that will eventually be implemented with our Partners. In the SME role, they represent Program Management and ensure the partner voice along with efficiency are always front of mind.
The role is primarily internal facing but may include some external-facing responsibilities as needed or requested by program management leadership. This role reports to the SVP of University Services but is dedicated to a set of portfolios with specific programs and SVPs.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
People Management:
Hire, onboard, and manage the performance and development of a group of 8 - 10 Program Directors across all business lines.
Collaborate with program GMs and PGMs to address performance concerns and identify development opportunities
Manage work and set team goals that align to 2U’s strategic priorities
Build diverse bench of talent and provide opportunities for individual contributors to grow into leaders
Foster culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; work collaboratively with HR to continually improve practices and processes for hiring and promotion within University Services
Oversee Learning and Development curriculum for direct reports
Operations Leadership
Identify opportunities for growth and/or cost savings and advocate for the needs of programs with support of SVP, University Services
Build and maintain strong working relationships with Program Directors, GMs and PGMs along with Matrix leadership to identify and escalate operational inefficiencies, influence internal and external decisions, and work to resolution
Hold Program Directors accountable to complying with standard processes and best practices for their programs
Manage scope, processes and deliverables of various projects across departments that support business goals across teams, products and business lines
Planning for Growth
Collaborate with SVP of University Services to lead strategic planning and hiring for existing and future program launches
Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate business processes that allow the business to grow without increasing headcount or operational costs
Build business cases to influence roadmaps, prioritization of initiatives and enhancements to Enterprise Operations and Matrix leadership
Inform the implementation and technology teams in launches of all initiatives and new products to ensure teams are resourced appropriately for successful implementation
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
Bachelor’s degree required
7 years’ experience managing teams and providing strategic direction
Extensive people management experience
Demonstrated general understanding of business operations.
Analytical thinker with great attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
Great communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information in a tactful manner.
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an environment of constant change.

In Colorado, the anticipated base salary for this role is $130,080, with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Note: The final compensation for this position may consider factors including the geographic location where the work is performed (candidate’s assigned office) and prior work experience of the candidate.
