Job Summary:The Division VP of Trauma Services and EMS works to carry out the mission of the Trauma Service Line and to lead development of strategies and tools to advance clinical performance in defined segments of trauma services. Works with the Division and Facility Senior Officers to assure appropriate alignment of improvement, growth, compliance, and technology advances within the trauma center system.

The Division VP of Trauma and EMS serves as an expert consultant on trauma services to ensure the delivery of optimal quality trauma patient care as defined by national, state standards and evidence based practice. The position ensures readiness and compliance with National and State regulations, trauma registry data integrity, research initiatives that produce exemplary optimal quality outcomes and performance for all Level I, II, III and IV trauma centers.

Major Responsibilities*

• Provide facilitation and direction to the Continental Division hospitals for a multidisciplinary trauma service with primary focus on developing/implementing and monitoring systems to enhance care of the trauma patient.

• Serve as a resource for inter-intra disciplinary team members that participate in the care of trauma patients.

• Assume accountability and responsibility for care provided by nursing and ancillary staff responsible for caring for the trauma patient.

• Collaborate with trauma medical directors to promote the goals of the Trauma Program, to qualify all care issues and system issues regarding the program development, and to optimize patient care across the age and injury spectrum.

• Successfully develop trauma programs at the division level, hospital level and within state/national systems.

• Provide oversight and direction of trauma related activities, and initiates changes internally and external that will promote optimal trauma care.

• Serve as co-chair of Division Trauma Governance Committee.

• Perform all functions necessary to ensure compliance to all hospital, local, and state requirements.

• Supervise EMS coordinators and facilitate their ability to build strong relationships with EMS stakeholders at the hospital level including provision of education, follow-up on patient outcomes, and process improvement related to care provided by first responders in the field.

• May serve as interim trauma program director at any level during times of turnover.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Requires self-direction and excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with all levels of management, physicians, staff and external customers.

* Must positively interact with diverse personalities in all levels of the organization and function well in a matrix environment.

* Must be able to establish credibility, to prioritize, to be decisive, tactful and flexible.

* Should have strong analytical and problem solving skills and tools, including methods in situations where previously accepted methods have proven inadequate.

* Must be able to utilize independent judgment in the coordination of many interrelated activities.

* Must maintain confidentiality of patient and employee records.

Education and Experience

* Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field

* Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field preferred.

* TNCC provider and instructor preferred.

Experience and Qualifications:

* 5 to 7 years of leadership experience managing trauma services in a verified level I or level II trauma center as a trauma program manager or director. .

* Success in roles requiring close monitoring of productivity metrics and active performance management.

* Experience implementing clinical projects and working with cross-functional teams

* Experience in data collection and analysis.

* Strong critical thinking, business planning and project management skills.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
