The Director Patient Safety provides leadership and direction in developing a culture of safety and in identifying opportunities and initiatives to enhance patient safety. The Director develops strategic and operational plans to build prospective, proactive, loss prevention and harm reduction patient safety program.
Role Accountabilities Include:
* Prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes (e.g. forcing functions, checklists, error causation thinking, human factors, applied informatics, culture)
* Effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility.
* Facilitate thorough and credible serious event analysis that result in strong sustainable improvement strategies.
* Facilitate thorough and credible failure mode effect analysis to identify and mitigate unintended adverse patient outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of process changes.
Palms of Pasadena is a nationally-recognized leader for BCIR surgery. Located in a beautiful Pinellas County beach community, Palms has been serving residents and visitors for more than 50 years.
The 307-bed facility is Joint Commission accredited and committed to providing high-quality medical care in a friendly hospital environment, offering a full range of services including emergency, surgical services, orthopedics, cancer, surgical weight management at the Florida Bariatrics Centers, wound care, a Rehabilitation Center and Sleep Disorders Center. The hospital also recently opened the area’s first Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit.
Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) required;
- If not already CPPS, must obtain certification within first year of hire.
Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field required.
Clinical background required.
Three to five years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality required. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
