Description:
This role ensures that maximum value is gained for Business Partners, leading to a competitive advantage for BMS; Provide “service excellence” to business partners through establishing effective relationships, partnerships, strategies, processes, systems and staff; Drive Procurement Services initiatives as an active member of the Global Procurement Extended Leadership Team; Develop, maintain and implement a 3-5 year strategic plan and ensures all projects supporting the strategic plan deliver maximum value; Understand the product lifecycle process, impact on the organization (both short and long term) and knowledge of the global value chain to provide strategic industry insights and identify potential opportunities that may shorten / improve the product lifecycle and ultimately lead to a BMS competitive advantage; Manage Supplier Relationship Management processes, procedures, supplier and category segmentation, metrics / KPI development and application, scorecard format, contract management, etc. This position will facilitate continuous improvement and idea innovation that will enable the Business Partner, Category and Functional Leads to achieve strategic objectives. Additionally, this role is also responsible for overseeing the internal manufacturing site resources in close collaboration with the Global Product Supply & Manufacturing organization.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Lead Global Procurement Business Partner & Category and internal manufacturing organization with resources spanning across various regional/local markets and manufacturing sites
Understand market nuances to effectively develop, implement and drive the global, regional, and local services strategy, policies and processes
Establish clear roles and responsibilities between regional / local resources and global category leads to ensure “one-face” to the business
Encourage cross-market and cross-functional collaboration to take advantage of synergies through effective business partnering and stakeholder management
Develop and manage key senior business relationships with functional business partners
Ensure business partners are satisfied with the overall Procurement relationship
Develop collaborative relationships with business partners in order to leverage knowledge, spend and procurement effectiveness
Champion Procurement training programs to better support business needs
Drive co-ownership of initiatives and accountability based on agreed upon strategies
Develop and implement metrics and reporting mechanisms
Ensure excellence in delivery of procurement initiatives that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives
Ensure compliance to preferred supplier programs
Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers through Supplier Relationship Development programs
Oversee development and own supply plan for group of categories managed
Ensure planned cost savings in group based on category management strategies, compliance plans and innovation development
Ensure key agreements and contracts are reviewed to protect and advance the company’s interest
Build and continuously improve the business partner and category’s procurement capability
Ensure and influence ongoing talent development
Establish/communicate criteria for evaluating staff performance
Manage head count and direct the implementation of work processes and practices to optimize staff engagement and effectiveness
Partner with GP functional Leadership to build and deliver processes, training, procurement technology and knowledge management tools
Ensure all escalated issues with respect to quality, performance or supply, are resolved
Collaborate with site / local procurement and manufacturing resources on solutions
Own and drive mitigation projects on a prioritized basis
Direct all initiatives and strategic decisions for the group, including all budgetary matters and management of resources
Provide business expertise and strategic leadership through participation in the GP extended leadership meetings
Category Strategy Development
Understand the Business Strategic Plan and budgets
Provide Industry and Category Expertise to build Category Strategy & Plans
Develop robust Category Strategies to meet Business objectives
Ensure Implementation plan is defined to enable those Strategies
Innovation Management
Foster innovation scouting and “outside-in” innovation from Strategic suppliers
Prioritize and recommend potential innovation opportunities and ensure connection to Business Partners
Buy@BMS / Procurement Operations Compliance Enablement
Leverage Buy@BMS to monitor procurement operations compliance level for respective Functional Areas and Spend Categories
Ensure compliance to preferred vendors, negotiated commercial terms & conditions as well as buying rules/channels predefined
Escalate non-compliant behavior and define mitigations plans for continuous improvement
Sustainability, Risk and Trust Management
Ensure Sustainability Strategy is embedded within overall Category Strategy
Translate the corporate Sustainability and Diversity objectives into Category objectives and programs/actions plan
Develop Risk Management strategies for respective categories to ensure continuity of supply and reduce potential negative impact on the company bottom-line and top-line

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
B.S./B.A.
Minimum of 12-15 years of business experience
Minimum of 10-12 years of multi-disciplined procurement experience
Minimum of 3 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams
Managerial experience including managing teams of senior professional and managers and establishing performance expectations
Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills
Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience
Experience in GMP ProcurementPreferred Qualifications:
M.S./M.B.A.
Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM).
5 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
Membership in Professional Associations, e.g. ISM
