Chief Nursing Officer Jobs description
A chief nursing officer is a nursing leader responsible for heading and managing patient care services in a healthcare setting. Work may include overseeing inpatient and ambulatory nursing services, respiratory care, pharmacy, and pastoral care. A chief nursing officer forms dependable alliances with other departments, works diligently to implement new strategies, and alters existing strategies in response to unforeseen incidents or patient outcomes. Such positions may also be known as vice president of patient care services.A chief nursing officer is usually required to have a master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business, or a related field. Experience of more than 8 years in nursing management is generally asked for. State licensure or eligibility may also be required. Such positions require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills along with a proven track record in improving patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
