Chief Procurement Officer Jobs description
A chief procurement officer provides leadership and direction in the areas of strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management. Responsibilities include drawing synergies across divisions, bringing enhanced standards of excellence throughout an organization, and leading innovation throughout an enterprise. It is the job of the chief procurement officer to work with the senior management in developing and managing strategic sourcing plans across the company to drive quality service and leverage buying power to achieve cost efficiencies. Such positions require the ability to establish a compliance process for purchasing decisions. A chief procurement officer may also be required to direct the improvement of acquisition management functions and operations through participation in initiatives to strengthen the acquisition workforce and procurement operations.A chief procurement officer should have a bachelor's degree though an MBA is preferred by most organizations. Experience of 7 years or more in strategic sourcing and supply chain management is usually required. Experience in managing major programs involving acquisition of goods and services, and simplified acquisition services may be advantageous.
